About Choclo
When you enter Choclo, you'll be involved by the genuine warmth of Latin culture. This is a goal that we've embedded in every aspect of our team, all of whom hail from South America.
Meet the Chef!
Born in Santiago, Matías de Araujo grew up with the immigrated Peruvian culture and gastronomy in his country and fell in love with it more and more.
After getting his chef's degree in Barcelona and working in Berlin for several years, he and Katharina decided to create a space in Lisbon that embraces the traditional Ceviche culture paired with modern cooking techniques.

Our Story
CHOCLO Ceviche was created by
Chef Matías de Araujo and Co-Owner & wife
Katharina Galaz Goyke to honor the Peruvian tradition of bringing people together over sharing food and drinks, while creating memories.
The word "Choclo" comes from the indigenous Quechua's "Choccllo" which is a large corn growing in Los Andes, Perú.
